The Boy Captive
“The Boy Captives” is a true narrative of the only known brothers to survive the hardships of captivity by hostile Indians. The tale is undistorted by contemporary historical interpretation and unfolds in a diary-like fashion.
After describing the life of a pioneer family, the story unfolds with the harrowing story of the Smith boys’ capture, their induction and indoctrination into the Indian tribe and life, including the purchase of one brother by Geronimo. The book provides insight into Indian life and death, including raids, battles, war dances and hunting adventures.
The book was originally published in 1927 by Clinton L. Smith — one of the boy captives. The paperback book is now in its 24th printing.
240 pages.
